In late May of 2013, the Wilma Dykeman Legacy celebrated the 103rd birthday anniversary of Wilma Dykeman at Black Wall Street in Asheville's River Arts District. As part of the festivities, Becky Stone took the stage. An accomplished actor, singer and Chautauquan, Becky read an excerpt from Wilma's third published novel, Return the Innocent Earth.
Published in 1973, Return the Innocent Earth is the epic story of the rise of a successful canning company in the mid-South. As the Clayburn family experiences success and tragedy, reconciliation and division, the realities of 20th century industry and society force members of the family into deep remembrance and bitter confrontation.
